So you’ve got questions. And we’ve got answers!

Q: Where and when will the Youthentity Career Academy be held?

A: The Youthentity Career Academy will be held in a central location between the hours of 1:00 – 3:30 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Wednesdays will be a flex day. The Hospitality program will be held at Youthentity in Carbondale. The Construction Management program will be held at Gould Construction, or a similar location, in Glenwood Springs. Both locations are near a RFTA bus stop.

Q: Will transportation be provided?

A: At this time the school district is not providing transportation; however, Youthentity will provide RFTA bus passes to those who need them.

Q: How long is the Youthentity Career Academy and how many credits will I earn?

A: The Youthentity Career Academy is for the entire academic year. The school district is currently evaluating how many credits will be awarded in a manner consistent with credits awarded for your core classes.

Q: Will Youthentity still offer its after school programs in architecture (Design Team), baking and pastry arts (YouthChefs), culinary arts (ProStart) and construction (Engineering & Construction Company)?

A: No. The Youthentity Career Academy will replace those programs.

Q: Is there a program fee?

A: A $200 “tuition” is required from each student enrolled. This fee helps contribute to the actual costs of the programs in a small way. The actual cost per student for the Hospitality academy is $6,000; for the Construction Management academy it is over $2,000. Youthentity fund raises and applies for grants to pay for the difference.

Q: What is Youthentity University?

A: Youthentity University is an on-line learning and communications platform that will be used by all students to complete a variety of courses and earn completion certificates as part of the Career Academy.

Q: How many spots do you have open for the Youthentity Career Academy pilot program for the 2019-2020 school year?

A: We have twelve (12) openings for the Hospitality program. The number of openings for the Construction Management program is being determined but it will be less than twenty (20). Safety and maximum engagement of each student is a top priority for us so the programs will be relatively small.

Q: How do I sign up for the Youthentity Career Academy?

A: First, complete your on-line application. Youthentity will review all the applications and provide a list of recommended students to the schools for their input too. Youthentity will schedule an in-person interview with you at your school to discuss the program in more detail. When the rosters have been finalized, your counselor will add it to your schedule for next year. The final step is to have your parents complete the parental release form and parent/student contract. We’ll get the information you’ll need to complete this last step to you.

Q: Can I or my parents speak to someone at Youthentity directly about my questions?

A: Of course. We have additional information posted on our website, but you may also call us at 970.963.4055 or email us.
