Youthentity Programs

• Construction and Culinary: Open to students who will be Juniors or Seniors in the upcoming academic year. Sophomores may apply only with a recommendation from a teacher or counselor.

• Animal Care, Health Occupations, and Real Estate & Finance: Open to all students who will be Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors in the upcoming academic year.

• Get a head start on your career while still in high school.

• Meet students from area high schools.

• Learn from successful industry professionals who may become your future employers. 

• Earn credits for graduation.

• Opportunity to build your network of professionals who can help make connections, helping you succeed.

• Understand which industry you’d like to build your career in and which careers in that industry you’d enjoy the most.

• Learn how to make wise financial decisions regarding training and education after high school so that you don’t take on more debt than you can reasonably handle while achieving your desired but a realistic lifestyle. 

• Learn the different ways you can acquire training or education after high school to help you succeed in your career. 

• Connections to scholarships, earn certificates, and college credits (college concurrent enrollment credits are offered in Culinary/Hospitality and Construction).

• This unique opportunity is scheduled during school hours so you can participate in after-school activities and commitments. 

• Construction Management: Held at Bridges High School. Offered during Periods 1 & 2 and Periods 4 & 5 on the block schedule (students choose one section).

• Culinary & Hospitality: Held at Youthentity in Carbondale during Periods 4 & 5 on the block schedule.

• Animal Care (Fall) / Health Occupations (Spring): Held at Youthentity in Carbondale on Wednesdays, 3:00–5:30 PM. Due to growth, sessions may take place at either Youthentity/CMC Carbondale or our office, depending on availability. Field trips are required throughout both courses.

• Real Estate & Finance: Held at Alpine Bank in Carbondale.

At this time the school district is not providing transportation; however, Youthentity will provide RFTA bus passes to those who need them. 

• Construction Management and Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management run for the full school year. Students earn 15 general elective credits and 5 math core credits per year. Both programs are also Dual Enrollment (DE) courses, earning 3 college credits each.

• Animal Care and Health Occupations each run for one semester. Students earn 5 credits per session.

• Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management and Construction Management: $200 lab fee per student

• Animal Care and Health Occupations: $50 lab fee per student

These fees cover only a small portion of the actual program costs. The true cost per student is approximately $6,000 for Hospitality and over $2,000 for Construction Technology. Youthentity covers the difference through fundraising and grants.

Financial assistance is available. Students who wish to enroll but are unable to cover the lab fee should contact us to discuss options.

• Check your schedule. Confirm with your school counselor — or Career Academy Director Bret Moyer — that your school schedule allows you to participate.

• Complete the application. Submit your online application.

• Review process. Youthentity reviews all applications and shares a list of recommended students with each school for their input.

• Possible interview. Youthentity may schedule an in-person interview at your school to discuss the program in more detail.

• Roster finalized. Once rosters are set, your counselor will add the program to your schedule for next year.

• Parent paperwork. Your parent/guardian must complete a parental release form and a parent/student contract. The form is linked below to complete this step.
