YouthChefs Baking and Pastry Arts

Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12

Credits: 5 credits

Requisites for participation: Counselor Approval, Youthentity Parental Permission Slip and Parent/Student Contract

YouthChefs at Youthentity is a professional development program for community youth based on classical European baking and pastry techniques with a modern American twist. Under the guidance of their coach, a professional pastry chef, students will learn professional culinary techniques and will prepare and cater a pastry and chocolate buffet for 75+ guests as their final project.

Tuition Fee: $50 (includes a chef’s jacket, hat, apron and cookbook). The total cost of the program is over $1,000 per student and is funded by Youthentity with the exception of the $50 tuition fee.

Dates/Times: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm + graduation event prep time. Fall semester only. In addition to the regularly scheduled classes on December 12 & 13, 2018, students will be required to attend class after school on Friday, Dec. 14, Saturday, Dec. 15 and Sunday Dec. 16 for their graduation event. Start date TBD.

Location: Youthentity in Carbondale. Students must provide their own transportation. Bus passes provided by Youthentity.
