ProStart® at Youthentity: Foundations of Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts, Level 1

Grades: 11 & 12 (Students in Grade 10 may apply for an exception)

Credits: 20 credits per year

Optional: METROPOLITAN STATE UNIVERSITY CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT PROGRAM

Prerequisites: Counselor Approval, Youthentity Parental Permission Slip and Parent/Student Contract

ProStart at Youthentity is a food service hospitality management program and a magnet program for all students in the Roaring Fork School District. ProStart introduces students to a wide variety of careers in the hospitality industry. In our program you will build your cooking and business management skills. In the spring we also compete at the ProStart State Invitational in Denver in both culinary arts and business management. Our former students have earned over $900,000 in scholarship offers for post-secondary education and competed twice at nationals. For
four years in a row Sullivan University has named us as one of the Top 50 Hospitality programs for high school students nationally. Tuition Fee: $100 (includes a chef’s jacket, hat and apron). The total cost of the program is $5,000 per student and is funded by Youthentity with the exception of the $100 tuition fee. Please see your counselor for more details.

Book Deposit: A $75 book deposit is also due. Your deposit will be refunded to you upon the return of your book in good condition. 

Dates/Times: Mondays and Tuesdays, 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Full-year program.

Location: Youthentity in Carbondale. Students must provide their own transportation. Bus passes provided by Youthentity.
