ProStart & YouthChefs Culinary Programs
We offer two distinct programs for high school students interested in exploring careers in the restaurant and hospitality industry: ProStart and YouthChefs.
ProStart: Culinary Arts & Restaurant Management
Who it’s for: This program is primarily for juniors and seniors who want to learn about both the culinary and the management sides of the industry.
What it is: Students work with a professional chef to learn high-level cooking techniques.
Meets twice a week at Youthentity’s Carbondale kitchen
ProStart is a nationally recognized program, giving those interested in culinary arts a unique edge in breaking into the industry
Through the ProStart program, students have the chance to win scholarship money for college-level culinary programs such as the Culinary Institute of America and Johnson & Wales
ProStart students have earned over $450,000 in scholarship opportunities for post secondary education
Youthentity’s ProStart team has received top awards at regional, state and national culinary and business management competitions, and in 2015 was selected by Sullivan University as one of the Top 50 hospitality programs for high school students in the country.
YouthChefs: Baking & Pastry Arts
Who it’s for: This program is for all high school students who have an interest in pastry arts, or who just want to learn to bake like a pro.
What it is: This hands-on program places students with a master pastry chef to learn the intricacies of creating French pastries with an American twist.
Students meet twice a week at Youthentity’s Carbondale kitchen
The final exam is the production of a 1,000-piece pastry and chocolate buffet for a Youthentity party
Graduates from both ProStart and YouthChefs programs have completed college and are working in the hospitality or restaurant industries or are currently enrolled in institutions such as the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, Mesa State University, Johnson & Wales University, Modul University Vienna and Colorado Mountain College.
